Peludert argiudólico

It looks like a Argiudol: it has the dark surface of a Molisol and a clay horizon.

Peludert is a name from the 1975 taxonomy, which many INTA soil survey maps were made with. The current edition no longer has this group: today it would be classified as Hapludert.

What the name says

Soil Taxonomy names are built from parts, and each part says something about the soil. From general to specific:

What it means for farming

Fertile and with a lot of water retained, but difficult: they become waterlogged, when wet they become sticky and difficult to work with, and when dry they crack. They ask for tillage at the right time. They are the typical soil of much of Entre Ríos.

It is the Vertisol of Entre Ríos in the old soil survey maps: the current classification changes it to Hapludert.
