How to read it

In Buenos Aires the cadastral reference is made up of these fields, from general to specific:

Level	What it is	Characters
Partido	The first-level administrative division of Buenos Aires province; in the rest of the country it is called departamento.	3
Circunscripción	The first cadastral division within the partido or departamento, usually with a Roman numeral.	2
Sección	The subdivision of the circunscripción, almost always with a letter.	2
Chacra	A rural or semi-rural subdivision of the sección, several hectares in size.	7
Quinta	A smaller subdivision of the chacra, typical of the outskirts of towns.	7
Fracción	A large rural subdivision of the sección.	7
Manzana	The city block surrounded by streets.	7
Parcela	The specific property: the plot with its own boundaries.	7
Subparcela	Part of the parcel, usually a condominium unit.	6

Characters are the length of each field in the roll the provinces report to AFIP.

In ARBA's CARTO viewer the cadastral reference is shown broken down level by level —for example «Partido: 18 · Circunscripción: 8 · Parcela: 379H»— and only with the levels the parcel has. In the rolls it travels as a 40-digit code with the empty levels set to zero.

The tax roll number in Buenos Aires

Partida (partido + partida number): this is what the property tax account is called in Buenos Aires. It is not the cadastral reference: the reference says where the parcel is, the tax roll number identifies the tax account.

In the title deed, in the section that describes the parcel, together with its measurements and boundaries.
